North Carolina was already the perceived underdog heading into Wednesday’s rivalry game with Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Those odds took another hit on Tuesday when it was reported that center Joel James would miss the game with an apparent concussion, per Roy Williams at his press conference.
James is averaging just 11.3 minutes per game but provides a presence on the inside which would be helpful in a game against a talented post player like Mason Plumlee. James likely would have been used to spell Desmond Hubert and James Michael McAdoo should they end up in foul trouble.
Those minutes will now likely fall to freshman Brice Johnson and sophomore Jackson Simmons.
1st thing at Roy’s presser: Joel James took a blow in the WF game; has had a concussion since then. will not practice today or play tomorrow
