While we wait for more to emerge on the status of Seth Curry‘s left ankle, the verdict on Ryan Kelly‘s foot seems to be a bit more clear cut. CBS’s Seth Davis went on at halftime of Sunday’s Michigan-Ohio State game and made comments about the future of the forward’s season.
Kelly, who injured the foot against Clemson, was in street clothes and on crutches on the Duke bench during their loss to N.C. State on Saturday with many in attendance noting that Kelly refrained from putting any weight on the injured foot. Davis suggested that Kelly might miss the remainder of the season if he elects to have surgery on the foot.
After the Duke twitterverse exploded, Davis clarified his comments on his Twitter account.
For those asking my point about Ryan Kelly is I believe this is a serious injury. Not saying def out for year but I think it'll be a while.

Remember, Kelly is a senior who wants to play in NBA as well as win a title at Duke. Those two things not always compatible. Hope 4 the best

Electing to have surgery on the foot would be a similar move to Kyrie Irving‘s decision to sit out for much of his freshman season, a point brought up by Steve Wiseman of The Herald-Sun.
Following up on @SethDavisHoops tweet, much like Kyrie. Hence my reference as such on Wednesday. Have to weigh short term, long term.

If Kelly misses the remainder of the season, that significantly hinders Duke’s chances at contending for the national championship. They currently stand at 15-1 and are in a three-way tie for second place in the ACC.
